I would like to explain what The Lighthouse Church is all about. It is best described in our mission statement which is “Loving and Following Jesus”. For us it all comes down to having relationship with Jesus, otherwise we are just preaching a gospel of works. Let me explain, if you have a list of do’s and don’ts that get you into heaven that is religion, and I would argue it denies why Jesus died. Jesus’s death on the cross made a way for us to have a right relationship with God. This relationship comes out of love for Jesus, not out of works or obligation. Jesus wants us to know Him and trust Him. And that trust in God is more than a belief in your head but a faith where you trust Jesus above all. When we accept Jesus into our heart a transformation begins by the Holy Spirit entering and transforming us, old things begin to pass away, and new things come. So, as we walk in relationship with Jesus, we obey because we know and love Him.
We believe in the infallible Word of God, which means it is without error and we believe that the Word of God has all authority over our lives. In the gospel of John, it says that Jesus is the Word of God (John 1: 1-4) and that He is the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). We believe in the foundations of the faith which are found in the Nicene and Apostle’s Creeds, and we respect the mystery of Scripture (i.e. when and how Jesus will return, God’s sovereignty and man’s free will, etc.). We want to keep loving and following Jesus the main thing and not elevated any doctrine above Jesus. We want to be His sheep who hear His voice, and He knows us, and we follow Him (John 10: 27).
The Lighthouse Church is about living out this faith in Jesus. If you want to know more about Jesus or need prayer, please let us know. We are all broken and are desperately in need a Savior who is Jesus Christ. Being a Christian is not about perfection but simply loving and following Jesus and as we walk with Him, we are transformed.
May God richly bless you!
